Yes! Common Ink is run by real people. We're friendly Midwestern folk who like to talk with clients and make them happy.

Is Common Ink scalable? Can I integrate with third-party services like Google Calendar or Facebook?

Yes. You can keep any third-party services that you're currently using, and add new ones to your website at any time. Not all third-party services are editable by common Ink, howeber, so please contact us with questions about specific add-ons.

Is Common Ink a CMS?

Yes. And more.

Will my site be SEO optimized?

The Common Ink system uses SEO best-practices. The system allows you to edit meta tags, keywords, page slugs, and more. Even images controlled by the system have a special field for alt text.

Can I view traffic reports?

Yes, the Common Ink system has an integrated stats package that allows you to view unique visitors, number of visits, pages, hits and bandwidth per month, as well as referring sites, search keyphrases, and more.

Can you help me spruce up my current website? What about a redesign?

Absolutely. Common Ink’s parent company is Kassera Design Studio a design firm that specializes in web design, print design, and branding. Is there a limit to how many edits I can make?

No, there are no limits. Edit as much as you’d like.

Is there a limit to how many new pages I can add?

No, we don’t have any quotas or limits on how many pages can be on a Common Ink website.

Many people wil be editing my website. Can I restrict access to certain areas?

Yes. Each person using the system has a unique username/password combination, and you can grant each user access to specific areas of the website. Administrator-level users have access to the entire site.

How many users can I have? Do I have to contact you to set up new users?

There’s no limit on how many users you can have, and you can set up new users at any time, using the “user manager.” You can also reset passwords, or delete old users.

Can I resize images using Common Ink?

Yes. The Common Ink system allows you to upload an original image, then proportionally resize and save multiple versions of that image.

Can I link to other websites?

Yes. The Common Ink system WYSIWYG editor allows you to easily insert links to other pages on your site, or other website addresses. Advanced users can insert links right in the HTML code, if preferred.

Can I upload PDFs to my website, and make them available for download? What about other file types?

You can upload any file type with the Common Ink File Store. Every file in the file store has a unique URL that allows you to link to that file, for download or viewing online.

Can my website include video

Yes, you can upload any video file using the File Store. To embed video directly on a page, you'll need to know the HTML embed code suitable for that specific file type. Once you have that, you can add the video to any editable text field

Can I add a contact form?

Yes.

Can I make HTML or CSS edits?

Yes. Advanced users can switch to HTML mode in the WYSIWYG editor and edit the raw HTML of any editable area. New CSS can be added inline, and the site stylesheet is available from a drop-down in the WYSIWYG editor.

How do I transfer my domain to you?

If you know how to log into your domain name account, it’s as simple as changing the nameservers. If that last sentence was Greek to you, don’t worry, we’ll take care of it.

What happens to my email?

We’ll take care of it. If you currently use Microsoft Exchange server, you can keep right on using it. Are you using Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, Hotmail, etc.? You can keep your email right where it is. If you’re using email at your domain name, we can transfer the accounts to be managed through Common Ink, or set them up through Google. We’ll ask you what your preference is, so you’re ensured access to your email throughout the setup process.

Do I still need to pay my current web host?

No. When you start managing your web content through Common Ink, we become your new web host. You can cancel your old web hosting account as soon as your site has been transferred.

Will converting to Common Ink change your site’s current website design?

No. We developed Common Ink to wrap around the design—most content management systems make the design wrap around the content management system. Which isn’t pretty.

I’m a web designer. Can I set my clients up with a Common Ink account for the website that I’ve designed?

Yes, absolutely. We’ll need to host the site, but both you and your client will be able to continue editing the site via the Common Ink system. We can either bill the client directly or bill your company. If you have several clients you’d like to set up, contact us to learn more about our reseller program.

My current site uses PHP and javascript. Are these compatible with Common Ink?

Absolutely. If your site uses ASP, we may need to convert it PHP. (If you don’t know what this means, don’t worry, we’ll take care of it and make sure that it works.)

How does billing work?

All Common Ink customers are billed monthly, via credit card. When you sign up, you’ll be asked to provide a credit card and contact information.

Can I cancel service if I’m not happy?

Yes, if for some reason you’re not 100% satisfied with the Common Ink system, you can cancel at any time, and we’ll refund any fees, up to the past 30 days.
